What is holistic nutrition?
A holistic nutritionist undertakes a natural approach to health and takes into account the body, mind, and spirit when counseling a client. As a holistic nutritionist, I understand that every person is unique in their needs and will customize a nutrition, lifestyle, and supplementation program to your specific needs and goals.
The main difference between a holistic nutritionist and a registered dietician is that dieticians tend to follow Canada's food guide when making dietary recommendations. Although some may find this information helpful, it tends toward a 'one-diet-fits all' approach and does not factor in a person's unique needs/food sensitivities etc. A holistic nutritionist does not use a 'one-diet-fits-all' approach but rather gathers detailed health and medical information from you and tailors a plan that is customized to your needs to meet your goals.
I can receive nutrition and diet information online, why should I pay to come see you?
Nowadays, an overwhelming - and conflicting - amount of information about nutrition is found on the internet. Not everyone who offers advice online is qualified to do so. Many contributors may offer advice from their personal experience, which does not necessarily mean that their approach is right for you. I can't stress this enough - we are all biochemically unique and just because something worked for one person doesn't mean it will work for everyone.
Given my education, qualifications, and training, as your holistic nutritionist part of my job is to sort through the confusion and conflicting information, and present you with the ideal plan suitable just for you.
Working with a trained professional like myself will help you debunk various myths, offer you years of expertise, the most current information, easy access to a number of valuable resources, recommendations and accountability.
How long does it take to see results?
That depends on your goals and how well you adhere to the protocol provided. In most cases you'll see/feel a noticeable change within the first week, however long-term adherence to the protocol is required to correct imbalances and achieve lasting health. Where you are on your health journey and the issues that need to be addressed will also factor in to the length of time it takes to see results.

The path to health and wellness is not an overnight change. It requires patience and dedication but speaking from personal experience - it is one of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself. I'm not sure I want to commit, do I have time to decide?
Absolutely! I'm happy to offer prospective clients a FREE 15 minute consultation. During this time we can meet in person (or skype/facetime if distance is an issue) and discuss whether or not holistic nutrition is a good fit for you. After this consultation there is no obligation to enlist my services, but I sincerely hope you do! We will move forward from the consultation only if and when you are ready to do so.
What is my first visit going to be like?
Your first visit is very comprehensive and is 1 hour in length. Prior to this appointment you will have completed a 5 day diet diary and some forms detailing your health history. We will review these together and I will discuss any issues/patterns I see. You will leave this appointment with dietary and lifestyle suggestions that will positively impact your life. Within a few days of our meeting I will send you (via email) a very detailed and comprehensive nutrition, lifestyle, and supplementation protocol to address your goals and underlying health issues. You will be able to use this comprehensive protocol as your reference guide throughout that phase of your protocol.
Follow up visits are required in most cases to assess progress and modify the protocol based on progress made during your health journey. In addition, many steps and layers of healing are often required in order to get to the root cause of your health issues. I will work with you throughout so that your health goals are achieved as quickly as possible in the safest and most effective manner.
